Rental Policy

*All rentals are subject to the following terms and conditions

Start dates explained:

  • The start date you select with your rental order should be the latest date you need the gear for your trip. If your trip begins on a Wednesday, for instance, choose that Wednesday for your start date.  If it is a local delivery, we guarantee delivery on the evening before your start date.  If we are shipping a product to you, we try to have it arrive one day prior to your start date but guarantee it to you on your selected start date.  Please note that your start date must fall on a weekday due to limited weekend shipping options. If your outdoor adventure, for example, takes place over the weekend, use the preceding Friday as your start date.  You are never charged any rental fees during the shipping process.

Rental periods explained:

  • Day rentals—

All day rentals must end on a weekday.  Otherwise, the order will be considered a 3 day rental and your credit card will be charged for those additional days.  If you needed a day rental for Thursday, July 21st, for example, you would select Thursday, July 21st, for your start date.  You would receive the product on Wednesday, July 20th.  Your drop-off/pickup date would then be Friday, July 22ndYou are never charged any rental fees during the shipping process.

  • 3 day rentals—

All 3 day rentals must end on a weekday.  Otherwise, the order will be considered a 5 day rental and your credit card will be charged for those additional days.  If you needed a 3 day rental for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, July 20th –July 23rd, for example, you would select Wednesday, July 20th, for your start date.  Your drop-off/pickup date would then be Saturday, July 24th.  All weekend rentals, including rentals on a Friday, are at least a 3 day rental.  For a weekend rental, choose Friday as your start date and then the following Monday would be your drop-off/pickup date.  You are never charged any rental fees during the shipping process.

  • All other rentals will follow the same schedule for the number of days the product is rented.  You are never charged any rental fees during the shipping process.

Drop off/pickup dates explained:

  • Day rentals have a drop-off/pickup date that is the day after your start date.
  • 3 day rentals have a drop-off/pickup date that is 3 days after your start date. 
  • 1-week rentals have a drop-off/pickup date that is exactly 7 days from the start date.
  • All other rentals will follow the same schedule for the number of days the product is rented
  • If you are located in Colorado Springs, the product will be picked up directly from your home by an ASO staff member on the drop-off/pickup date.  At the checkout page, you will be asked to designate whether or not you will be available at your home between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the pickup date.  If not, you need to leave the product in an obvious, accessible location near the doorway, and maintain responsibility should anything happen to it.  You are never charged any rental fees during the shipping process.
  • If the product was shipped to your home, it is shipped to arrive the day before your start date (if you allow appropriate time for shipping).  You are required to ship it back to American Sportsman Outfitters, using the same packaging and enclosed shipping label, on your required drop-off date.  Failure to do so will result in late charges assessed to your credit card at the daily rental fee.  You are never charged any rental fees during the shipping process.
  • Late charges will be assessed at the daily rental rate of each product for the duration they are held by customer beyond the drop-off/pickup date.  If a product is not available for daily rentals and does not have a daily rental fee, the late fee will be pro-rated for a daily rental based on the cost of a 5 day rental.

Upon checkout, a hold will be placed on your credit card for the full retail value of the items you rent. This is not a charge on your account, simply a hold until all the items rented have been returned.

Each customer is responsible for the following during the rental period:

  • Returning products back to American Sportsman Outfitters according to the required drop-off/pickup date.  If you are located in Colorado Springs, the product will be picked up directly from your home by an ASO staff member on the drop-off/pickup date.  You must be available at your home between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the pickup date or maintain responsibility for the product if it is left near the doorway to be picked up.  If the product was shipped to your home, it is shipped to arrive the day before your start date (if you allow appropriate time for shipping).  You are required to ship it back to American Sportsman Outfitters, using the same packaging and enclosed shipping label, on your required drop-off date.  Failure to do so will result in late charges assessed to your credit card at the daily rental fee.  You are not charged any rental fees during the shipping process.
  • Returning products back to American Sportsman Outfitters free of mud and heavy dirt.  If products are being shipped, they must be dry during shipping to reduce the chance of mildew or mold.
  • Returning products back to American Sportsman Outfitters in the same working condition that the product was received in by the customer.  Failure to return products back to American Sportsman Outfitters free of defects, damages, or deterioration could result in the customer paying for product repairs or replacement.
  • Returning products back to American Sportsman Outfitters in the same working condition that the product was received in by the customer within 14 days of the end of the rental period.  Failure to return products back to American Sportsman Outfitters in the same working condition that the product was received in by the customer within 14 days will result in the customer paying for replacement of the product.

American Sportsman Outfitters makes a full, good faith effort to honor: timely shipping/delivery of products, cleanliness of products, and product usability and specifications as described on the website.

American Sportsman Outfitters, however, does not claim responsibility for:

  • User error; American Sportsman Outfitters tries to make our products as user-friendly as possible by providing video and article how-to-use tutorials for most products.  If you cannot, however, operate the item properly due to your own error, American Sportsman Outfitters cannot claim responsibility for time lost or any resulting threats to personal safety.  American Sportsman Outfitters is happy to help, however, if you are having difficulty.  Please call customer service and we will do our best to walk you through the issue in a timely manner.
  • Manufacturer error; if a product does not function according to the manufacturer’s standards or specifications, American Sportsman Outfitters cannot claim any responsibility for any personal endangerments or other complications that may be caused.  However, American Sportsman Outfitters is more than happy to credit you for any time lost due to manufacturer error or replace your order with a similar product.
  • Product damage beyond a reasonable, limited amount of wear.  Rips, tears, excessive dirt or stains, mildew, or missing parts may result in a charge against your credit card for repairs or a full replacement cost equal to the most current retail prices for the item.
  • Theft/Loss/Non-Return.  You, the customer, are responsible for each rental item at all times from the point you receive it until it is returned.
  • Personal injury during rental process; American Sportsman Outfitters does not claim any responsibility for any personal injuries that may occur during the rental process, due to include, but not limited to: user error of product, weather, wildlife, etc.
